Freshmen Orientation Camp Committee

The Hall 1 Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) is one of the main highlights of every academic year. Held annually in August, it marks the start of a new academic year by welcoming incoming freshmen of NTU into Hall 1, as well as the 4 unique families here – Disney, Simpsons, Chipmunks and Garfios. Packed with numerous fun-filled activities, Hall 1 FOC aims to introduce freshmen to the hall culture and its very long traditions. The camp encourages everyone to try out something fresh and enriching as they embark their journey in NTU and Hall 1.

The organizing committee behind the FOC is the Orientation Main Committee (OMC). From the planning of programmes  to the execution of the camp itself, the OMC team work hard through the year with passion and conviction to create an unforgettable camp experience for all freshmen.

For those who are interested in joining the Orientation Main Committee, here are the list of portfolios available...

Programmers

Programmers are the people who brainstorm for new game ideas, prepare game materials, and conduct the games during the camp. Besides being innovative, this group consists of team players who enjoy working in groups.

Business Managers

The business managers are in charge of sourcing for funding for the camp. They plan for canvassing events and secure sponsors to raise funds for the camp. They also put together the goodie bags that are given out during the camp. They should have good business acumen, and are proactive in approaching sponsors.

Chief Group Leaders

The CGLs are the ‘father’ or ‘mother’ of the families. They take care of their family welfare and ensure that the family stays close-knitted throughout the one year from their appointment. During FOC, their main responsibilities are to look after the well-being of the freshmen, be the contact point between the committee and the individual families, and lead the other group leaders in bonding the freshies and integrating them to hall life.

Logistic Officer

The logistics officers work closely with the programmers to ensure that all materials and equipments required are bought or borrowed. During the camp, they ferry logistics and programmers to their venues, as well as liaise with bus companies to ferry camp participants.

Welfare Officers

The welfare officers are in charge of disseminating important information to committee members and taking down minutes during each meeting. Besides that, they plan for leisure activities and outings for committee members.
During the camp, they liaise with caterers to provide food and drinks for participants, and ensure that dietary needs are met. They are also the first-aid personnel who take charge of the first aid kits.

Publication and Publicity

The P&Ps are in-charge of designing the publicity materials for the camp, including website, banners and t-shirts. They are also the brains behind the FOC theme, and the committee photo and videoshoot. They will put together the opening and closing videos for the camp. They should be proficient in design and/or photography.

Special Project Officiers

The SPOs are the people behind a special segment of the FOC – the Secret Pal night. Their responsibilities include putting together the programme and sourcing for suitable venues and activities. They are also the ‘match-makers’ who organize the SP interaction, and finalize the pairings for SP night.
